In addition to keeping you company during the night, your dog can also help you reduce stress levels and relax.
Indeed, pets in general and dogs, in particular, are known to reduce stress and anxiety. Various studies have shown that playing with a dog or hugging him can have a relaxing effect, especially when you’re stressed. Their presence can also help reduce the levels of cortisol, known as the stress hormone.
In fact, a study was conducted on a group of people who were required to perform stressful tasks in 4 different situations: alone, with their pet, with their partner or with both. Participants presented the lowest stress responses were the ones with their pets.
